WHICH FANDOM IS THE BIGGEST IN THE WORLD

We all have our favorite fandoms. For some of us, it’s Harry Potter; for others, it’s The Hunger Games. But which fandom is the biggest? To find out, I looked at the number of people who follow each fandom on social media (as measured by Facebook and Instagram likes) as well as how many people search for information about each fandom using Google Trends.
Supernatural
Supernatural is an American fantasy horror television series created by Eric Kripke. It was first broadcast on September 13, 2005, on The WB, and then moved to The CW in 2006. It stars Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, brothers who travel across America hunting supernatural creatures such as demons, ghosts, monsters and other assorted paranormal beings. In addition to the two main characters there are many recurring supporting characters throughout the show’s run such as Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver), John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Adam Milligan (Travis Wester) and Castiel (Misha Collins).
Harry Potter
Harry Potter is a franchise that has been around for almost 20 years. It’s the highest grossing film series of all time, with over $8 billion in box office receipts and over 500 million copies of its books in print worldwide.
The first Harry Potter book was published in 1997 by JK Rowling and since then it has become one of the most well-known fandoms in existence.
The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is a series of novels written by Suzanne Collins and later adapted into a film series. The first book in the series, The Hunger Games, was published in 2008.
The series focuses on Katniss Everdeen who volunteers to take her younger sister’s place when she is chosen for the 74th annual Hunger Games (a televised death match).
Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones is the biggest fandom in the world, and it’s not even close. The show is based on a series of books by George R.R. Martin, who has won multiple Emmy awards for his work on Game of Thrones. The show has also won several Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards since its premiere in 2011–and its popularity hasn’t waned in recent years: as recently as this past April, HBO renewed Game of Thrones for two more seasons–bringing its total number of episodes to 73!
The fan base for Game Of Thrones extends far beyond just viewers; there are countless websites dedicated to discussing every aspect of this addictive drama/comedy/epic fantasy story (and plenty more besides). Some fans even dress up like their favorite characters at conventions across America every year–like San Diego Comic-Con or New York Comic Con–where they can meet other enthusiasts who share their love for all things Westerosian!
