So how are these numbers calculated? Well, it depends on two things: the number of students who qualify for admission based on their scores and grades (usually called cutoffs), and secondly, how many candidates apply for admission into an institute.

Let’s start with the basics: There are two types of entrance tests for getting into an IIT – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. If you pass both these tests, then congratulations! You’ve made it through the first stage in what could be a long journey towards becoming an engineer!

But don’t get too excited yet; there are still two more stages left before reaching your goal: qualifying each test individually and then clearing all three together by securing good enough scores on each one (we’ll talk about those in detail later).
