Nawazuddin was born in Budhana, Uttar Pradesh in 1976 to a Muslim family of Kashmiri origin. His father worked as a fruit seller and mother was a housewife. He studied at the local madrasa before moving to Delhi for further studies at Jamia Millia Islamia University where he completed his graduation in history but did not continue because he wanted to be an actor instead of being stuck behind books all day long!
